Working for charities
![]() |
Cantemus has a long tradition of singing for charities, including the National Trust, local trusts and charities and church appeals. We always try to maximise the revenue for the charity concerned, our only expenses being the hire of the venue and royalties payable to the Performing Rights Society, which are related to the programme content and audience numbers. These expenses can be further minimised if concert sponsors are able to provide the venue for us and handle ticket sales. If the concert is local, we are able to help with publicity if required.

In recent years, the choir has performed at National Trust properties and other heritage houses in the West Midlands. These have included Baddesley Clinton, Charlecote, Middleton Hall and Packington Hall. |

Our main concerts are held in May and October and, as far as possible we like to use these concerts to support charitable organisations. In the past we have supported the Solihull Borough Citizens Advice Bureaux, with concerts at Christ Church, Solihull. We have helped to raise funds for a new kitchen at Balsall Common Methodist Church. We have sung for the Middleton Hall Trust at their newly restored property near Tamworth and in recent years have contributed to the Heritage Weekend at Temple Balsall, near Solihull, by performing concerts in the Church of St Mary the Virgin and outside in the courtyard. Cantemus also performed concerts at the Church of Our Lady of the Wayside in Shirley, Solihull, in support of the work of the Father O’Mahony Memorial Trust. More recently we have sung at St Patrick's, Salter Street in aid of their building fund, at the church of St Mary the Virgin, Lapworth for the Warwickshire and Northamptonshire Air Ambulance and at the Bournville Meeting House in support of Amnesty International. If you would be interested in discussing the possibility of Cantemus performing a concert for your charity, please contact the secretary here. |
